‘She Wants Me’ Featuring Too $hort [Song]

Kutt Calhoun’s latest album, Raw and Un-Kutt, includes the track, “She Wants Me” featuring Too $hort.

Here is more info on Too $hort we found on his Wiki:

[Todd "Too Short" Anthony] Shaw was born September 28, 1966 in South Los Angeles, and raised in East Oakland during his teenage years. In the early 1980s, Short produced custom raps (called “special requests”) for people with his high school friend, Freddy B. In 1983, Too Short released his first album, Don’t Stop Rappin’, on the local label 75 Girls. This and his next three releases featured raw, simple drum beats using a LinnDrum drum machine in the early 1980s, switching to mostly the TR-808 and TR-909 by the mid-to-late 1980s. In 1986, Too Short and Freddie B. founded the Dangerous Music record label to distribute his music regionally. Dangerous Music later changed names to Short Records, and then Up All Nite Records. With his 1988 release, Life Is…Too Short, he began infusing replayed established funk riffs (rather than samples) with his beats. Learned how to rap from Ervin.

Kutt Calhoun’s Five Favorite Spots In Kansas City

Kutt shared with us his Five Favorite MCs Of All Time, but why stop there? We also asked Kutt Calhoun to name five of his favorite locales in hometown Kansas City. Here’s what he had to say.

(In no particular order)

1. Houston’s (4640 Wornall Road)

Probably the most popular location of the mini-chain, Houston’s on the Country Club Plaza is the kind of place where no matter what you end up ordering, chances are it’s going to be good. Burgers, sandwiches, fish, steak, the menu is your basic American fare but made with the highest quality ingredients from local growers. Kutt says:

“Houston’s is a nice spot to get away to. It’s elegant and classy and they got the best steak I’ve ever tasted. It’s called the Hawaiian rib eye. You get that with the loaded baked potato and the fried shrimp–man, it is so good. You got to try it. You know how you go to TGI Friday’s and they got the Jack Daniel’s sauce? The rib eye comes with it’s own sauce that’s killing Jack Daniels.”

2. America’s Pub(510 Westport Rd)

Located in Kansas City’s Westport entertainment district, America’s Pub is a good place to party, dance, and drink. With a sound system that’s always thumping to an ever-present crowd on the multi-level dance floor, it’s not exactly the spot for a nuanced conversation, which is all the better if you’re just looking to wild out on the town.

“Westport–if I want to go out I like to go Westport. America’s Pub lately has been poppin’. It used to be a spot to where you didn’t want to go to, especially if you were a black man because they played a lot of techno music. There’s nothing wrong with techno music, it’s just not my cup of tea. Now it’s turned into an urban spot to where they play music that’s appealing to me. If I want to get out that’s the type of environment I want to be in. America’s Pub is one of the spots where you can go and have a nice time. They show me love there and play my music. It’s a nice spot to go to.”

3. Club Zen (3832 Main St.)

An upscale hip hop club located near Westport, Club Zen is a place where you can dance or chill in a more posh environment than your usual dance club. The red hues of the interior, chic decor, and VIP rooms with available bottle service definitely lend to the sophisticated vibe.

“Another party spot. It’s smaller and more personal and I like that personal touch. It’s kind of packed. I’m not a big dancer, I’m not back in high school no more, but they dance all night. Around midnight is when it starts poppin’ and from twelve to whenever they turn the lights on you have kids dancing there nonstop. I like the atmosphere. I’m up in VIP behind a glass window or whatever but I like the atmosphere and I like the environment. I get treated well up in there. They have good drinks too. Yeah, Zen is poppin’. It’s very small and it’s very packed but the environment is a good environment for me.”

4. Cinemark Palace At The Plaza (526 Nichols Rd)

Everyone loves the movie theaters but what makes Cinemark Palace so special? One, the location is nicely located within walking distance of the multitude of shops and restaurants nearby, and two, Cinemark Palace offers VIP rooms to where you can eat and drink from a restaurant menu, have a waiter or waitress attend to you, and allow you to enjoy the movie with your feet up on a leather recliner.

“I haven’t been down to the new AMC theaters at Power and Light. I hear it’s immaculate. That’s where I want to go but I can’t name it because I haven’t been so the closest to it that I’ve been to is the Palace on the Plaza. I like going to their VIP room where you can eat, drink, and be comfortable in the lounge-sized seats. They’ll bring you like a six-pack and a bucket of ice. Me and my woman like to go and watch movies there. You know I’m a big movie watcher. I like to catch all the latest stuff that’s coming out so that’s definitely a place.”

5. Macy’s (18809 E 39th St S)

The nationwide retail store has many locations, but the one at the Independence Mall is the one that suits Kutt the best. Always a fan of fashion, Kutt goes to Macy’s to get a lot of his shopping done.

“I’m a big Coogi wearer nowadays–Coogi and Crown Holder. Crown Holder is like the upscale of Coogi. With Crown Holder you’re going to get yourself a pair of jeans for like two-fifty ($250) to where Coogi might only be eighty-nine to ninety-nine dollars. I’d say Von Maur down at the Legends but I haven’t been there yet. I want to go because I like Burberry and shit like that.”

‘Redemption’ Featuring Joe Budden [Song]

Kutt Calhoun’s latest release, Raw and Un-Kutt, includes the track, “Redemption” featuring Joe Budden.

Here is more info on Joe Budden, taken from JoeBuddenTV:

From the heat of Spanish Harlem, to the spitfire of “Chill-town” known as Jersey City, New Jersey, at an early age hip-hop artist Joe Budden answered the call of his artistic destiny. This gifted wordsmith seemed to transition effortlessly from street ciphers, rap battles and local shows where he would rip the mic regularly, to the promising position of down to earth rap superstar. Using page and pen as his sounding boards, Joe used his gift of lyricism as therapy to push through the tough times. As a result of honing of his craft, he soon infiltrated the ears of many, and his ability started commanding the attention, recognition and studio time from various industry movers and shakers like DJ Cutmaster C, DJ Clue, DJ Kay Slay and super producer Dub-B (aka White Boy).

In 2003, Joe Budden released the first installment of what would become one of the premiere selling mix-tapes series of all time entitled, Mood Musik: Worst of Joe Budden. With massive street notoriety, Joe Budden signed to Def Jam Records in that same year and released major hits from his self-titled album, such as the timeless 2003 Grammy nominated hit “Pump It Up” in the category of Best Male Rap Solo Performance that catapulted him to international fame. A two time United Kingdom, MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Award nominee for the collaboration with Marques Houston on “Clubbin” and for Best Rap Performance, he has worked with such celebrated musical talent as hip-hop comrade Busta Rhymes, Kelly Rowland, Nelly, Jennifer Lopez, Ne-yo and Gnarls Barkley; positioning him as the go to artist for movie soundtrack inclusion for such blockbusters as 2 Fast 2 Furious, for which he is a 2004 Black Reel Award Nominee for Best Song from a Movie, Johnson Family Vacation, The Simpsons and Cradle to the Grave. In that same year, Joe secured a coveted spot as a morning show host on New York City’s Hot 97.7 WQHT.

Winner of the 2003 Vibe Next Award, Joe went on to release consecutively the legendary and still unrivaled Mood Musik 2: Can It Get Any Worse? (2005), the critically acclaimed Mood Musik 3: For Better or For Worse (2007) and Mood Musik 3: The Album (2008). One of the most consistent artists to date, his matchless lyrical artistry continues to garner him worldwide respect and success in such places as Europe, Africa and Asia. Known as a purist, an intelligent artist, and a non-conformist, Joe Budden is a verbal straight shooter always keeping his musical storytelling honest and true to life; placing him in an elite league with other hip-hop artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Common and Jay-Z.

With the rebirth of Joe Budden into the main stream he is set to make his highly anticipated re-grand entrance into the world of hip-hop with his long awaited release Padded Room on Amalgam Digital in 2008. With a follow-up album release in the same calendar year and talks of television and movie deals in the works along with additional branding ideas.

Never one to forget where he came from, Joe Budden has two generations of musicality literally and lyrically coursing through his veins. This award winning writer, rapper and visionary, inherited his love of music from both his father and grandfather. Holding his love of family, friends and community close, Joe lends himself to causes that uplift, encourage and inspire youth, the incarcerated and the less fortunate by mentoring young people in detention centers and schools across the country.

For Joe Budden inspiration comes daily and from any source. This transcendent, lyrical craftsman weaves real life experiences with the best of beats that conveys to any listener “music is what feelings sound like.”

‘She Wants Me’ Featuring Irv Da Phenom [Song]

Kutt Calhoun’s latest release, Raw and Un-Kutt, , includes the track, “She Wants Me” featuring Irv Da Phenom.

Here is a message from Irv Da Phenom taken from his Myspace Page:

When’s the last time you went to see your favorite artist live and left like “damn, that stage show was the truth”, or “wow his vocals are actually better in person!”? Now weigh it against the times you’ve left saying “I can’t believe I paid 60 dollars 2 watch him hold his nuts and yell for an hour.” That’s just disrespectful to the fans. What happened 2 giving quality product? It all boils down to quality customer service. Im a fan myself so from the albums 2 the stage, I give them that same quality that I would expect. – IRV DA PHENOM’
Soooo, I do music, but im sure u knew that when the song kicked in soon as my page loaded. Yes I rap. Yes I sing as well. No I am not old enough 2 buy liquor yet. I am also a writer…I grew up listening 2 a range of music. The first tape that I purchased was the n*sync single “drive me crazy”. Lol. I then ventured into the world of hip-hop with twista, the wutang clan, and my mentor TECH N9NE. These and many other artists ranging from heavy metal 2 old school soul (it would take me like 12 pages 2 list them all) have molded what I know as GOOD music. My whole outlook on music is called “HUMAN” so when im put in a genre I would prefer that it’s “HUMAN” as apposed 2 hip-hop, soul, or R&B….all of which are a part of human music.

WHAT THE @*% IS “HUMAN MUSIC”?

All right check it out, I think of every thing in terms of music. So during every day of my life, there is a soundtrack going on in my head depending on the situation. So say you just got a raise on the job, which would call for something real victorious, Say queen’s we are the champions, or say your with your lady friend…and trying 2 set the mood, nothing better than some Marvin Gaye. Ok now you have on your new all white kicks at the club and some d-bag blatantly steps on them. Im sure this is a lil john or even heavy metal situation..lol the whole point is as a human being life is bigger than just one sound of music. No thug is a thug all of the time, you cant play ice cube 2 set the mood with your date..Lol! Im also pretty positive that if I where 2 touch al.b.sure’s curl back in the day, he wouldn’t have been so R&Bish So I do them all, and that’s human music.

BACKGROUND CHECK

Ok, I hail from Kansas city, also referred to as killa city (u can guess why) so wit that, there where a lot of opportunities 2 get myself killed or in jail b4 I graduated, but thank god for music, and common sense. Remember the kid back in high school who used 2 sell every known product known 2 man out of his backpack? I mean from honey buns, 2 electronics, even the occasional illegal substances, Yea, well that was me so I guess u could say im something like a hustler. I dropped my 1st cd entitled “U AINT HEARD?” in high school and bought my very first car off of the proceeds. Growing up ive never seen my pops work for anyone…so I guess you can blame him for my work ethic, I had my first job workin wit my pops @ the tire shop movin rims…lol, and im the oldest of 5 kids. So you could also say ive never really had it super gravy…but still I know ive been blessed. All of these things are the reason that I can never, EVER work a normal job, so here I am making this music 4 you.

LOL! Remember on blackplanet when you shouted everybody out?…we should get back 2 that..Lol……………
WHAT UPPER!: Craig smith, the wax factory, Greg enemy, tech, ponch, jazz, hanna, kali, Trevor, rob, kutt, .T.T.S., Paige, wakil, January, nesto, lou what it do, samara, pete, klak gang, drew, Jessica, JONES i see u, gotti whats poppin! Everybody checkin the shows and hittin up the page, much love!..Lol (u didn’t think I would do it did you?) –PHENOM’!
